In the US celebrities have been making the news regarding various aspects concerning their luxury real estate. Famous US stars include Denis Richards, Peter Sampras and Suzanne Somers.
Actress Denise Richards
Famous for her near epic divorce and custody battle with now ex-husband Charlie Sheen more so than for any film roles she has had, Denise Richards is selling her home in Los Angeles. The five bedroom home is listed for approximately $4.25 million. The star’s “celebrity” touch has not added to the value of the home. She is listing it for about $100 thousand less than she originally paid for it. No telling what it will actually go for in today’s buyer’s market.
Tennis Player Pete Sampras
Pete Sampras is not making money in the real estate market either. He recently sold his 10,000 square foot mansion in California’s Beverly Hills for two million less than he originally paid for it. This home sports five bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, its own guest house, gym, tennis court, and theater. Sitting on close to one acre of land, it brought in nearly $25 million for Mr. Sampras.
Actress Suzanne Somers
Much more depressing than losing a bit of money on the resell of your home, is losing your home to a natural disaster. Suzanne Somers has lost her home to a fast moving wild fire that completely destroyed it along with several other multi-million dollar homes in the Malibu area. The owners are out a fortune as the homes in this area typically are sold for anywhere from $5 to $15 million dollars. Hopefully their insurance papers were in order!
The blaze burned through this area near Malibu Colony where row after row of celebrity homes are. Other famous residents of this area are Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Pamela Anderson, Barbra Steisand, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, David Geffen, and Ted Danson.
Many remember Suzanne Somers from her role on “Three’s Company” as a lovable blonde, others from her plethora of infomercials selling diet and exercise equipment.
