The Middle East country of Bahrain is growing by leaps and bounds these days. In addition to a number of new construction projects that have been announced and are under way, the Persian Gulf nation has also been the recipient of other news that will make life there more enjoyable.
New York City retail giant Saks Fifth Avenue just announced plans to open its first store in Bahrain. The 57,600 square foot store is set for a location in the Bahrain City Center in Manama and will be the company’s third store in the region, following two stores in Dubai.
Stephen I. Sadove, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saks Incorporated, commented, “We are very pleased to bring Saks Fifth Avenue to Manama, Bahrain, which is a great shopping and tourist destination. We have worked closely with Style Avenue Middle East to deliver an extraordinary assortment of luxury brands and experiences to the residents of and visitors to Bahrain.”
In addition to the new shopping experience for residents and visitors, increased air traffic is also on the way. Etihad Airways just announced that it plans to increase the number of daily flights it has from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi from four to seven. General manager for the northern Gulf Region Al Aseeri said that traffic in one year had grown by more than 50 percent and he expects the growth to continue. From Abu Dhabi, passengers can connect to destinations around the world.
