As warmer weather approaches, you may notice your home isn’t quite ready for summer yet, even if you are. Getting your home ready for the summer months doesn’t have to be a daunting task, however. With a little preparation and some planning, you can have your home ready, so you can spend your time enjoying those long hazy summer days.

Clean Your Gutters

Gutters are often overlooked because they aren’t at eye-level. However, they’re an important part of your home’s structure because they divert water and other debris off your roof and away from your home. Over time, however, they can become clogged with leaves, sticks, pine needles, or other debris that may have fallen from surrounding trees. Show them a little TLC by getting them cleaned out.

Repair Roofing and Siding

Depending on where you live, your home may be subjected to a variety of weather conditions. However, no matter where your home is, no roof is immune to wear and tear, and after a long period of repeated harsh weather exposure, it could see some damage. Take some time to inspect your roof to make sure there are no holes or tears in your shingles and i there are, take care to get them repaired right away. Your home’s siding is equally important, because if there are holes or tears in it that go untreated, water could seep into your siding and rot your home’s structure.

Look at Your Landscaping

If you’ve let your yard sit for months without caring for it, chances are it’s going to need some work done to get it ready for summer. There are things you can do to your landscaping to freshen up your yard for the warmer summer months, but a good place to start is raking and removing and debris that may have built up while it sat dormant. After you’ve removed any excess debris, then you can consider aerating your yard, planting new grass seed, putting down mulch, or planting a garden.
