A lucky few of us will one day move into our ‘dream home’, complete with those
features we always wanted. Then again, not all the features of our dream homes
are all that unusual – as new research shows.

Research by Ocean
Mortgages, who provide this article, found that the most commonly desired
feature of a ‘dream home’ is an indoor swimming pool – with 36% of respondents
to a survey saying they’d like one.

But not all the features are as ‘out there’ as you might
think – this was closely followed by an en-suite bathroom (33%) and a summer
house/ conservatory (32%).

Meanwhile 25% would like a bigger garden, 17% would like
a cinema room and 10% would like a wine cellar.

Some of the more unusual features of people’s dream homes
include a tennis court (5%), a moat (2%) and a panic room (1%).

There were some differences between the dream home
features for men and women. 39% of women want an ensuite bathroom, compared
with 25% of men. And while 37% of women would like a walk-in wardrobe, just 12%
of men agree.

Ian Williams from Ocean Finance said: “It’s fun to
think about dream home features but actually, they don’t have to just be in the
imagination.

“Many of our aspirations are actually quite modest –
adding an ensuite or a shed, for example, can often be quite achievable.

“It’s nice to see Brits are quite humble when it
comes to thinking up what makes a dream home.”
