Despite the economic downturn and a slowdown in Mexican construction projects, one developer is continuing work on a couple of high-profile projects. American Pat Butler, owner of Club Acquisition Company (CAC), is investing additional resources in projects in San Felipe and Mazatlan.

“We really feel once the economy turns around there will be a pent up demand from the baby boomers,” said Butler, who was quoted in the New York Times. “The baby boomers certainly aren’t going away.”

The two developments that CAC is working on are the Estrella del Mar Golf and Beach Resort in Mazatlan on the Pacific coast of Mexico, and El Dorado Ranch in San Felipe along the Baja Peninsula. Estrella del Mar is an 816 acre gated community with a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. golf course. It has plans for a total of 800 condominiums and 1,200 private homes. El Dorado Ranch is 200,000 acre residential development 120 miles south of the American border along the Sea of Cortez.
