Brasilia- Flavio Dino, president of Brazilôs Ministry of Tourism, Embratur, Said that the number of foreign visitors to Brazil would set a record 5.4 million visitors beating the previous high mark of 5.35 million in 2005 and the 5.1 million visitors in 2010.
Embratur Said in a release that the surge in tourism was attributed to the world wide buzz about Brazil in connection with the World Cup and the Olympic Games of 2016 to be held here in Rio de Janeiro. Dino said that the goal of 10Million visitors by 2020 ought to be doable considering the current level of 5.4 Million and adding to the uptrend the mega events to come in 2014 and 2016. Dino also said that this yearôs numbers make it plausible that the goal could be reached even earlier.
Durante July 2014 the month of the World Cup, Brazil is expected to receive 600,000 visitors in the 12 cities where the matches are to be held and the total for the year 2014 is expected to reach 7.2 Million, Dino added.
