Dubrovnik Summer Festival Highlights Croatian Hotspot

The Dubrovnik Summer Festival is holding its 59th annual summer spectacular in the famous Croatian city located on the Dalmatian Coast. This year’s festival, which traditionally showcases music, theatre, dance and folklore of this beautiful old city, began on 10 July and runs through 15 August.
 
Some of the events and shows include the folklore ensemble LINDO, the St. Petersburg Chamber Players, the Verazdin Chamber Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Cantus Ensemble. There are also several plays by local playwright M. Držić, as well as several performances of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. John Williams and John Etheridge, internationally known guitar players, will play together and solo on 25 July.
 
This summer festival began in 1950 and his annually celebrated in various venues throughout the city since then. It is now the largest and most celebrated cultural event in Croatia, and in recent years it has attracted international performers and an increasing number of visitors from abroad. It is just one of the many events and attractions that draw people to this classic and historic town.
