Selling a property in the current market is hard but seemingly it has been even tougher for those seeking to sell or buy a home for the disabled. This has now been addressed by one of the UK’s most established private sales website at The Little House Company.co.uk. It is the only private property sales portal that allows sellers of disabled access properties to list on multiple sites for one fee, including the specialist site for disabled property, accessible-property.org.uk.
The two sites have enjoyed a long standing relationship aimed at ensuring selling property privately is as easy for disabled and elderly people is as easy as it is for everyone else. Little House Spokesperson Sonia Marr said:
“I think this is a positive step in helping people find accessible property. Contrary to popular belief; these properties cover all spectrums of the housing market and Little House Company would encourage other private property sales websites to join them in providing this extra service.”
Accessible Property director Conrad Hodgkinson went further:
“This is a market that has been poorly served for far too long More than 10 million people in the UK identify themselves as disabled and by 2020, it’s estimated that around 60% of the population will be aged 50 or over. We are delighted to be supporting The Little House Company in improving access to the housing market for our clients.”
Properties put up for advertising on the Little House Company, with elements conducive to disabled living are automatically added to accessible-property.org.uk free of additional charges. This is all done when the property is added to the site: the user ticks boxes to say whether the property has common additions from a stair-lift, wheelchair-lift, or wide doors, to more specialist fixtures such as a level-access shower, adapted bathroom or adapted kitchen.
On the other side of the coin, disabled people selling property privately, who wish to do so through a multi-site approach, are redirected from APR to the Little House Company website, where they receive a discount for having come from a partner website.
