Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport, Petar Mutafchiev, recently welcomed and announced new ferry services from the Black Sea port of Varna. The minister was in the port city to welcome the first of several new ferry lines that will help Bulgaria increase its international trade and services.
He welcomed railway cars from the new railway ferry that runs between Varna and Russia’s Port Kavka. While in the city, the minister also announced that there will be a new ferry line between Varna and the city of Poti in Georgia, which is expected to begin service in May, 2009.
Yet another international ferry, this one across the Danube between Nikopol, Bulgaria and Turnu Magurele in Romania is expected to open at the end of March, 2009.
