5 Tips to Improving Your Home While Self Isolating

Due to global pandemic, we’ve all suddenly found ourselves with a lot of free time on our hands, as the nation and indeed the World, remains in lockdown. As you are self-isolating and spending more time than ever in your home, there may be a few things you’ve noticed and want to change. After all we need projects to keep us occupied, and sprucing the house is a good productive activity to keep you busy in the coming weeks.

     1)     What Can You Get Online?

Part of the lockdown means no unnecessary trips out of the house, so you need to work out what you can order online. Amazon is still open, so you can get a wide range of things for your home from this website. There are also other companies still open for business, for example if you want a simple way of changing the look of the rooms in your house, then a new set of blinds are a simple and inexpensive way of doing so and companies such as DotcomBlinds are still able to deliver for you.

     2)     What Can You Make Yourself?

Arts & craft supplies are easily available to still order online from places like Amazon. What you make can vary depending on how much time you want to spend. If you’re artistically inclined, maybe you can create some paintings and hang them around the house? Or if you want to dedicate some time to learning a new hobby, why not think about knitting a new throw for your sofa?

With the right supplies you can make a lot for your home and will give you something to fondly remember from these tough and testing times.

     3)     Have You Got Some Spare Paint?

Spare paint can be an absolute Godsend for home decoration, you don’t need a lot, but if you have a bit of paint in your garage or shed from when you last painted a room, you can look at giving some of your rooms a spruce or even give your household items a bit of a touch up. Maybe painting an old coffee table that’s had a bit of wear and tear or painting a door to add a bit of colour to a room, the opportunities are endless, and you can spend more than a day just touching up the paintwork around the house.

     4)     Re-Arrange Your Furniture.

How long have you had all your furniture in it’s current set up? If you are like most of us, it’s probably been a few years, right? In your living room, you can move the sofas, coffee tables and TV stand to new positions to change things up and give it a new look. In your bedroom, you can move the position of your bed and furniture if there is enough space. These changes will make your rooms feel fresh and new and make things at home a bit less monotonous.

     5)     What’s in the Loft?

The loft or attic can be an excellent place to find some treasures to add to your rooms. Lots of people store old furniture and accessories that went in the loft when they moved in and never came back down. It’s worth investigating what pieces you have stored to see if they can add a bit more character to your current room layout. Maybe you have some garden chairs you put up in the Winter that you can break out and have a nice garden seating area, or an old chest of drawers that you can restore and could be used in one of your rooms room or maybe even some family photos you forgot about that you could hang up throughout the house.

If you can find some awesome old furniture or trinkets up there that you can freshen up a little bit, they can be great for sprucing up your home and giving a nice vintage vibe to a room.

Lastly in addition to the benefits of your interior design, home improvement can be a great way of getting yourself moving and another way of getting your daily exercise. Just be careful you don’t put your back out with any heavy lifting!
