The Edge, U2’s guitarist, is planning an extensive home and additional buildings on property he currently owns in Malibu, California. The project, however, is running into resistance from neighbors who are worried about its size and impact on the environment.
The U2 star has plans for a house with 19 overlapping roofs which he wants to call Leaves in the Wind. Additionally, he wants to construct four additional buildings on his 156 acres of land. This beachfront community, home to many celebrities, has not embraced the guitarist’s plans.
“The Edge has more money than God-why does he need to spoil the mountains for everyone?” said local activist Candace Brown in an interview with the London Times. The California Coastal Commission overseas all construction along the coast and is expected to review the plans in June.
