The second movie in the Twilight Saga, New Moon, is currently filming in Italy through the end of May, according to fan sites and news releases. The movie, based on the Stephenie Meyer book of the same name, is filming several scenes in the Italian town of Montepulciano.

Stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Ashley Green have been in Italy for the filming of the book about vampires. The action in the book takes place in the real-life Italian town of Volterra, but the producers decided to use the scenic town of Montepulciano for their set.

Montepulciano is in Southern Tuscany, located on a hilltop with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The walled town has many Renaissance buildings and a number of historic churches, palazzos and piazzas. The area is known for its wines and agriculture, and draws many tourists to its stone streets.
