A new mixed use development is set for Tunis and is being jointly developed by the Tunisian government and Sama Dubai, an international real estate and development arm of Dubai Holding. Mediterranean Gate is being developed by Sama Dubai with the backing of the government and will be completed in 14 phases over the next few years.
The infrastructure work has been under way since the end of 2007 and the project is expected to be home to international companies, luxury hotels, leading retailers and a wide range of residential housing. There will be recreational and sports facilities for residents and visitors to Mediterranean Gate.
It is expected that the new development in Tunis will help to fuel increased economic opportunities and tourism in the North African country. Farhan Faraidooni, Executive Chairman of Sama Duba, said “Mediterranean Gate will be a unique project, designed to reflect the integrity of its landscape, culture and heritage. It will cater to all sections of the society and represent a benchmark for sustainable development in the region when completed.”
