Etihad Airways and Bangkok Airways have combined to form a new codeshare agreement for flights between Etihad’s increasing destinations and the Thai destinations of Phuket and Koh Samui. Under the agreement, Etihad will have its two letter EY code on Bangkok Airway’s flights between Bangkok and the popular Thai island destinations.
This new announcement will help Etihad, one of the newest and fastest growing airlines in the world, to extend its network even more. It brings the total number of codeshare agreements for the airline to 12. The Abu-Dhabi based airline currently operates a double daily flight to Bangkok from its home base in the United Arab Emirates.
“Asia is an important market for Etihad and there is huge demand amongst our customers to travel beyond the Thai capital, which this new codeshare agreement now allows,” James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said.
“We are expecting the new services to be extremely popular, particularly with leisure travellers looking for a luxury beach break on two of Asia’s most beautiful islands.”
