One of the main ways in which Cyprus is hoping to attract increasing numbers of overseas property buyers is by improving the country’s golf facilities. In much the same way as the quality of golf centres on the Algarve attract millions of visitors; Cyprus is hoping to take an increasing share of the golfing market.
Now, a brand new golf centre has been opened on the island by none other than English champion golfer Sir Nick Faldo.
Sir Nick Faldo designed course open for business
The new Élea golf club is located in the eastern region of the Pahos district of Cyprus. Designed by Faldo, a six time major champion, the course is situated just a short drive from Paphos airport.
In addition to the new course, the development also features apartments, villas and a high quality hotel complex. The tricky course and beautiful location are intended to attract both golfing enthusiasts and property investors looking for a great overseas home.
‘Pivotal role in establishing Cyprus as a leading European golf destination’
The new Élea golf course is being described as ‘the golfer’s Mediterranean masterpiece.’
At the launch of the new course, Sir Nick Faldo said: “This golf course certainly has the potential to play a pivotal role in establishing this part of the world as a leading European golf destination. When we designed the golf course at Élea golf club we decided to put the emphasis on thoughtful rather than big hitting golf and there are plenty of strategic riddles for the golfer to explore and unravel over all 18 holes.”
Following a difficult couple of years with falling demand and falling prices, Cyprus is making a concerted effort to attract more buyers from overseas. So, if you are a golfing enthusiast, why not consider one of Europe’s emerging golf destinations?
