Derek Jeter’s Florida Mansion

New York Yankees star Derek Jeter is in the process of building a very large house along the TampaBay waterfront just outside of Tampa, Florida. The size of the yet-to-be-completed house is drawing the attention of both neighbors and the New York City press, with a recent article about it in the New York Post. The house is planned to be 31,000 square feet and will sit on 1.26 acres of land.

Jeter purchased three lots in the DavisIslands community to have a single piece of land large enough for the house. The land itself cost over $7.6 million when it was bought in 2005 and 2006. Currently under construction, the house will have seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, two garages that will hold three cars each, an entertainment room, a billiard room and a memorabilia room.

When finished, the house will be the largest in the area and nearly six times the size of most of the neighbors’ houses. In comparison, Yankee owner George Steinbrenner has a nearby house that is a mere 17,000+ square feet. While the shortstop and team captain will reside in New York during the season, this house will be his off-season and spring-training home.
