When moving overseas, the task of getting your possessions
safely from A to B can seem a little daunting. A good
international
removal company
will offer a range of services, and by choosing the
right one you can enjoy a move that is relatively hassle-free. Here are three
basic steps to selecting the right company and getting the removal process
going.

Step One- Assess your needs

The first decision is how much of your furniture and
possessions you want to take with you. Bear in mind that overseas removal
services can be costly, and that it might be cheaper to buy new furniture
rather than take your existing lot.

There may well be certain things that you simply can’t leave
behind, but others that can be easily replaced. In this case, you can save a
lot of money by choosing a ‘part-load’ removal option. This will mean that your
goods are transported along with those of other people. You will only pay for
the space you require- significantly less than the cost of a full lorry.

The downslide to this is that a part-load will probably take
longer to arrive at its destination, and you may not be able to specify a
delivery date. Whilst a private lorry may take only a few days to reach your
new house, a shared vehicle can take a few weeks. Enquire with the company
about this, as it depends how often they run vehicles to your destination.

Step Two- Choose Your Company

There’s no better way of finding a good removal company than
reading past customer reviews online. Search for others who have relocated to
your destination and see who they used and how much it cost. Once you have a
few companies on your list, call them to get ideas of time and pricing.

For an exact quote, the company will send a surveyor to your
house in the case of a full lorry move. They can then assess your needs and how
much space you require.

If you are opting for a part-load, find out how often
vans/lorries leave the UK, how long they take to reach your destination, and
how accurate a delivery date the company can offer you.

Step Three- Preparing and Packing

Now you’ve got your quotes and talked to a few companies, you
can choose which one is best for you. The next consideration is packing and
preparation.

One thing you might not know is that many companies offer
packing services. If you are moving the entire contents of your house overseas,
boxing everything up could potentially take days. You might then consider
paying to have your stuff packed for you. This also takes away the need to
purchase packing materials as the company will provide these too. There is even
the option to have your belongings fully unpacked at your new home so that it
is completely ready to move into.

Otherwise, leave yourself plenty of time and be methodical.
You will need to make a full inventory of everything you pack to present at
customs.
