The dominance of Western cities is being challenged by up and coming centres in Brazil, Russia, China and India. Thatââ¬â¢s the conclusion of the latest Global Cities Survey from leading international property firm Knight Frank.
The annual survey ranks world cities according to a number of different factors including quality of life, political power and economic activity and has once again found that the USA boasts the best city in which to buy property.
New York the place to buy property in USA
New York toppled London to become the number one city to live in last year and the survey once again finds the American city at the top of the tree. Indeed, American cities fare excellently in the survey with Chicago, WashingtonDC, Boston and Miami all featuring in the top thirty of this yearââ¬â¢s survey.
The Knight Frank report says: ââ¬ËThe overall winners this year are a diverse grouping, with Boston, Munich, Milan, Mumbai and Rio de Janeiro among the biggest climbers in our rankings. At the top of the table, however, there is no change ââ¬â New York holds the pole it stole from London last year.ââ¬â¢
New York set to be the best place to buy property for next 10 years
The panel of experts also considered how the changing face of world property may affect the list over the next decade. And, buying property in New York looks set to be a great investment as the city looks set to top the poll for the next ten years.
The Global Cities Survey says: ââ¬ËThe most reassuring element to note for New Yorkers and Londoners is that the two top spots donââ¬â¢t look set to change over the next 10 years, although the current chasm between these two cities and the rest is set to close rapidly.ââ¬â¢
ââ¬ËThe three biggest winners point to a rebalancing within the Brazil, Russia, India and China (Bric) grouping, with the main cities to watch being Mumbai, Moscow and Sao Paulo.ââ¬â¢
