Summer on the French Riviera

Now that the summer holiday season is upon us, the French Riviera is a wonderful place to visit, relax and enjoy the many celebrities who spend time here. Stretching for some 160 kilometers from Monaco and the border with Italy in the east down past Nice and Cannes, this fabled coastline is a popular holiday destination for the rich and famous, and not so rich or famous as well.

David and Victoria Beckham and their kids were recently spotted leaving the French Riviera at the end of their holiday. They have a house in France’s Var region which they are reportedly trying to sell. Also spotted in St. Tropez earlier in the month were Eva Longoria and her husband, basketball star Tony Parker. The couple attended the Cannes Film Festival last month and had an extended vacation along the coast.

The film festival traditionally draws many stars and this year was no exception. Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie made their first public appearance in months at Cannes 2009. Hayden Panatierre and Steve Jones, Quentin Tarantino, Justin Long, Asia Argento, Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt, Sharon Stone, Penelope Cruz and many others made an appearance at this year’s festival – and that’s just to name a few.

The French Riviera is a holiday hotspot because it has beautiful beaches, great weather and plenty of things to do. The city of Nice is the heart of the Mediterranean coast and has something for everyone, from culture and history to discos and dancing. St. Tropez is the celebrity hangout and you can spot big names at any time of the day or night here. And just inland in the hills above the Côte d’Azur is the perfume capital of the world, Grasse. Anywhere you head on this stretch of French coastline you can enjoy!
