The owner of Sheraton hotels has plans to spend €4 million in the final months of 2008 and 2009 to renovate its Polish properties and to launch a spa in Sopot. Starwood Hotels and Resorts, which owns Sheraton, indicates that the spa in Sopot, along the Baltic Coast, will be the largest in the region. Sopot is just up the coastline from Gdansk

“The center will be launched in the middle of 2009. It will be the biggest such center in this region of Europe,” said Thomas Schoen, Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Poland general director. He also said that the company is looking into the possibility of new hotels in Zakopane, Mikolajki or Juarata, a resort town not far from Sopot along the coast.

To date, Sheraton has four hotels in Poland located in Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan and Sopot. Schoen expects a 10 percent growth in guests at Polish hotels next year. Through October of 2008, there have been over 190,000 guests at Sheraton hotels in Poland.
