The Silver Coast of Portugal has been singled out as a property hot spot by several important real estate and investment firms, including Knight Frank. The company recently noted the SilverCoast is one of the top emerging property markets in the world.
This beautiful stretch of Portugal’s coast has long been a popular tourist destination, but environmental regulations have kept large scale development here to a minimum. Located north of Lisbon, one of the most popular tourist stops is the old city of Obidos. This walled city has plenty of historic sights and has been preserved as an excellent example of old Portuguese architecture and building.
Near the walled town are a number of new developments that have sprouted in recent years, including Bom Sucesso, Royal Obidos Spa and Golf Resort and Quintas de Obidos Country Club. Bom Successo has earned high marks as a residential resort that takes advantage of its settings and the environment. It has homes and villas designed by a collection of Europe’s best architects, including Sir Norman Foster and David Chipperfield.
The Praia d’El Rey Golf and Beach Resort is one of the older residential developments on the SilverCoast, and it continues to expand. Golf in Porgugal is very popular, and the new course at Royal Obidos, designed by Seve Ballasteros, will add to the draw.
