The new Paphos Airport Terminal on Cyprus is running down its final checks before opening to traffic in early November of 2008. The 18,500 square meter terminal includes lots of retail spaces and areas for passengers to relax while awaiting flights or arriving at Paphos International Airport (PFO).

Paphos is located on the southwest part of Cyprus and is quickly becoming a popular destination for tourists, holiday travelers and second home buyers. It is also the gateway to Limassol, Coral Bay and other popular resorts. The airport currently handles over 1.7 million passengers and the new terminal is expected to increase the capacity to as many as 2.7 million passengers per year.

In addition to the new terminal, the airport runway is being extended to 3,100 meters to allow most of the largest aircraft to land here. As another aid to those who fly to Paphos, a new highway is under construction from the airport, which is about 16 kilometers from the city, into downtown. This will help to speed airport traffic and reduce congestion on the B6 Main road and E603 secondary road.

The new terminal at Paphos International Airport will be officially inaugurated on November 8 by President Demetris Christofias, while it will open to passengers on November 17.
