The northeast coast of Brazil is quickly becoming a popular destination for international travelers and real estate investors. Ideal temperatures year round, miles and miles of white beaches and oceanfront property and low costs all make for an ideal location. On top of all that, it is a destination for some of the biggest stars in the country to have their own holiday getaways.

The city of Natal in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, located on the easternmost tip of Brazil, is one of the most popular spots and has some amazing new resorts available. One of the largest projects under way is the Grand Natal Golf Project, which will encompass several resorts under its wide reach. There will be five golf courses, eight hotels and a heliport.

One of the developments at Grand Natal is Elegance Natal Golf Resort, which covers 400 acres and is set to have 2,000 properties around the first golf course in Natal. Final construction is expected to be complete in 2010, and some of those who have already signed up include former Footballer of the Year Ronaldo as well as movie stars Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith. There will also be a Ronaldo Soccer Academy here, so there will be plenty of opportunities for kids as well as adults to have fun. The first phase consists of 1-3 bedroom apartments and penthouses, with prices starting at £39,000.

UK residents Gary and Louise Brown, who have bought into the project, were recently interviewed in an article on Natal in The Telegraph. They are full time property investors and have two children, and like what they see. “We thought it had huge potential,” says Louise, quoted in The Telegraph. “It has year-round sun and this enormous airport about to open. It’s very cheap to invest in Brazil right now, too, and you can pay in installments.”

Natal has a metro area population of just over 1.2 million people and is located on the Atlantic Ocean. The climate is tropical, but the ocean winds keep it comfortable year round. Augusto Severo International Airport (NAT) serves the city and has recently been refurbished so it is modern and up-to-date. Flights come in from all over Brazil, and there are regular direct flights to several European cities including London. In 2010 a new airport, San Gonzalvo International Airport, is scheduled to open outside of Natal and will be the fourth largest airport in the world. It will handle many flights from Europe as it is expected to be the gateway to this popular area.
