A property being developed by Sunrise Berhard has earned the country’s first Green Mark certification for a residential development. MK11 or 11@Mont Kiara earned the coveted certification of sustainable development, and the company has another property, Solaris on the Park, that has also earned the award. The Green Mark is issued by Singapore and currently Malaysia has no green development certifications. The fact that the company is willing to look to other country’s certifications indicates that it plans to be a leader in sustainable building within Malaysia.
Raymon Cheah, Sunrise’s assistant GM for development, was recently quoted as saying that the company plans to continue to build projects that reduce the impact on the environment while improving air quality and promoting efficient use of resources.
“Sunrise is promoting a culture of sustainable building practices in Malaysia to ensure a balanced quality of life that blends the environment into the built structures as an integral part of community living,” noted Mr. Cheah.
Mont’ Kiara is located in the northern suburbs of Kuala Lumpur and is one of the most successful residential developments in the country. There are a wide range of properties for purchase and this area is one of the most popular for expatriate residents in Malaysia. There are office buildings and plenty of retail shops as well as the residential properties.
