Marriott International recently announced that it is opening its Courtyard brand of hotels to Turkey. The first property to open in the country is the 262-room Courtyard by Marriott Istanbul International Airport. The hotel is five kilometers from Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport and about a 25 minute drive from downtown Istanbul.
“This hotel is designed specifically for European business travelers who want all the conveniences of an upscale hotel but in a more casual, open design where they can be totally at ease,” says Wolfgang Koller, general manager of the hotel. “Istanbul is a thriving business hub and a world class destination — the perfect location for this global brand.”
“This latest Courtyard brings our total roster of properties to more than 800 hotels,” said Brian King, senior vice president of the Courtyard brand. “We have also recently added hotels in France, Thailand, Hawaii and Washington, D.C.”
The rooms at the new hotel include wireless internet access, work desk, refrigerator and safe, among other amenities. For entertaining and meetings there is a 300 square meter ballroom as well as the Oleo Pazzo Restaurant. Courtyard by Marriott is a favorite among business travelers for its reasonably priced accommodations and is also Marriott’s largest brand. Another 200 Courtyard by Marriott properties are planned to open in the next three years around the world.
