America has seen one of its most expensive homes put on the market at $125 million. The luxury home owned by billionaire Donald Trump is in Palm Beach Florida. For this magical price tag you get extensive marble flooring, 24-karat gold fixtures in the bathrooms, fountains, a large pool and 475 feet of oceanfront out the back. The home which covers 80,000 square feet is spread over several buildings.
Sara Clemence, an editor for Forbes.com who wrote its listing report, said properties at the top end of the market have been moving upward for years, but the recent 100-million-plus listings are significant.
Why Mr Trump is selling his home is not clear at this stage. Trump’s property, Maison de l’Amitie, was bought for about $41 million in 2004 and if he achieves his asking price he will be set for a tidy profit.
Last week saw the American billionaire announce plans for a new golf development costing up to £1 billion. The development which will include two championship courses, 250 luxury homes, a golf academy and a five-star hotel is intended to be located in northeast Scotland. The huge luxury golf development would drive tourism to the area and have a positive affect on the local economy. However at this time planning permission has not been submitted. The intended site is on the Menie estate, Balmedie, Aberdeenshire.
