The first LEGOLAND Discovery Centre (LDC) is coming to the UK and should be open in time for Easter, 2010. The new Discovery Centre will take up 3,500 square meters in the Trafford Centre, Manchester and will be operated by Merlin Entertainments.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centres were first launched in Berlin in 2007, and this will be the fourth one in Europe. These centres have indoor attractions based on LEGO bricks and toys. The attractions are fun and interactive, and are aimed at children from 3 – 12 years old, but kids of all ages can have fun. Everyone who visits canl enjoy the many things to see and do at the LDC, including learning about LEGO Master building creations, take an interactive LEGO ride, see global landmarks in the LEGO MINILAND and more!

We make great efforts to ensure we choose exactly the right location for each of our attraction brands,” said Glenn Earlam, Managing Director of Merlin’s Midway Attractions Operating Group. “In our view a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and The Trafford Centre make an ideal combination. As one of the country’s premier and most exciting cities, Manchester, and most particularly the Trafford Centre, ticks all the boxes for Merlin – and the LDC will provide an exciting new element to a family day out shopping, and we believe bring significantly more visitors to the City.”
