The brand new
2012 Retirement Index from International
Living
has found that the country comes second only to Ecuador in terms of
its property prices, cost of living, healthcare and climate among American
retirees.

Panama City offers beautiful
apartments from only $90,000 (£57,900) and other locations in the country are
even cheaper.  Keep reading to

Panama City offers great value property

International Living reports that ‘whether you want to find a
luxury apartment in Panama City, a beautiful property in the mountains, or a
sprawling lot on the beach, Panama offers it all.’

The country’s capital, Panama
City, is a modern city offering all the amenities you could ask for but with
property prices lower than other locations in the world.  The magazine reports that a furnished
one bedroom apartment in the city’s popular El Cangrejo neighbourhood that came
with a shared swimming pool, sauna, party room and doorman recently sold for
just £52,750.

Other locations in Panama provide stunning value

The magazine also highlights the
value offered by other towns and cities in Panama.  For example, properties in David – the capital of the
Chiriqui province and around five hours drive from Panama City – are even
cheaper.  There are more houses
than apartments in the city and you’ll benefit from shopping centres, high
speed internet, cinemas, hospitals and banks.

The closer you get to David town
centre, the higher the price. However, suburbs more than ten minutes from the
town centre or nearer the airport are cheaper.  Basic houses sell for as little as £32,200 here although you
can buy a lovely property for not much more.  The magazine reports that an 800 square foot, two bedroom
house five minutes from the town centre on a 5,000 square foot plot is
available for just £51,465.
