Pacific Island Vanuatu has featured in The Lonely Planet top ten places
to visit in 2011 at the same time they have been identified by an overseas
property portal Homesgofaast.com as a potential investment hot spot.
Vanuatu consists of a a string of
more than 80 islands once known as the New Hebrides it achieved independence from France and Britain
in 1980. The archipelago, which is of
volcanic origin, is some 1,750 kilometres (1,090 mi) east of northern Australia,
500 kilometres (310 mi) northeast of New Caledonia, west of Fiji, and southeast of the Solomon Islands, near New Guinea.

over 181 nights a year of visiting ships cruising the South Pacific.
With the introduction of Virgin Air and Air New Zealand flights, Vanuatu have had an increase of up to 100,000
tourists arriving by air per annum – a 75% increase in 36 months.
