Bom Succeso is the name of a brand new designer resort that will give Portugal its first dedicated contemporary designer homes resort. The modern resort is being created on a 270 acre site near the medieval town of Obidos on Portugal’s Silver Coast. Some of Europe’s most well-known architects have collaborated in the largest modern architecture project ever undertaken on the continent.

Architects include Alvaro Siza Vieira, Souto Moura, the UK’s Stirling prize winner David Chipperfield, Josep Llinas and Aires Mateus. When completed, Bom Sucesso will contain 1,079 individual homes, in both villas and townhouses. In the first phase of construction, 601 luxury units are now under being built, while 478 additional properties are planned for the future. The resort emphasizes plenty of natural space, with only seven per cent of the resort built upon. Each property has a very high level of privacy and, depending on the location, fantastic views of the golf course, woods, ocean or Obidos Lagoon.

Bom Sucesso features a championship 18 hole golf course, designed by the world-renowned architect Donald Steel . It was constructed by Nigel Ely, currently the Chairman of the British Association of Golf Course Constructors

The resort is set to be popular with the British who have made Channel Fours TV show ‘Grand Designs’ one of its most popular television programmes. The show has continued into exhibitions with Grand Designs Live. The next event takes place at Birmingham’s NEC between 10-12 October 2008.
