Florida’s existing home and condominium sales rose at the end of 2009, according to the Florida Realtors. November, 2009 sales of existing homes rose 61 percent over the same month in 2008, and condo sales increased by 111 percent, according to the realtor group. Also, for the second month in a row all of Florida’s metro areas (MSAs) reported increases in home and condo sales for the month.

For the month of November, 2009 the median sales price for existing homes in Florida was $139,000. That is a 12 percent decrease from the 2008 number, $158,000. Many analysts note that the median sales prices for housing in Florida and across the United States are being held down by distressed sales and repossessions. The national median sales price for existing homes for October, 2009 was $173,100, down 6.8 percent from the previous year.

A total of 14,026 homes were sold in Florida during the month of November, compared to 8,694 a year earlier. There were a total of 4,889 condos sold in the month, more than double the 2,320 sold in November of 2008. The existing median condo price stood at $104,400 at the end of the month.
