American real estate mogul and businessman Donald Trump sold his house in Palm Beach, Florida this week for $100 million US. According to Trump’s personal spokeswoman, the $100 million sales price is the most ever paid for a single home or estate in the United States.
The Palm Beach mansion was sold to Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev. Called Maison de L’Amitie, the property has several buildings and approximately 60,000 square feet (5,600 square meters) of interior space.
“I love breaking records,” Trump told reporters, “and this is a record. In an age of so many people getting hurt in real estate, it shows that you can still do well in real estate. I think it’s a great sign for the area, a great sign for Palm Beach and all that Palm Beach represents.”
Originally purchased in 2004 for $41 million, the estate was helped by the services of one of the winners of The Apprentice, the reality show that stars Mr. Trump. Season 3 (2005) winner Kendra Todd added 24-karat gold fixtures throughout the house and marble everywhere. As you enter the estate, a large fountain greets visitors while in back is 475 feet of premier ocean front land. The ocean front property is the main attraction for the Russian businessman, according to some reports.
