On a recent Yahoo poll listing the most common turn offs for
prospective buyers when visiting a home, along with the obvious annoyances such
as a bad neighbourhood or high price, clutter was also highly listed. The
reason for this seems clear. When entering a house that you are interested in
buying, you want to be able to visualise yourself living in that house. Be able
to plan and imagine how you would make this house your own. But this is
extremely difficult when there is another personââ¬â¢s clutter in the way.
Therefore, here are a couple of ways of maximising your homeââ¬â¢s space:
Make Use of Empty Spaces
There will undoubtedly be quite a number of unused spaces
within your home that you didnââ¬â¢t even think were functional for storage. The
best examples of this are under the bed or on top of wardrobes. A simple
wheeled box can hide away under the bed, hiding all that clutter but also makes
it easily accessible. The same can also be said for on top of a wardrobe. Yes a
wardrobe is already a storage facility but the top is often disregarded. Some
simple baskets for example, store your clutter but also will look nice and
tidy.
Functional Furniture
It sounds obvious but buying furniture that also has a
storage function makes that extra difference. A great example of this is buying
a nice coffee table for your lounge which also has a space underneath to hide
things like magazines which may look unattractive to a visitor.
Find the Correct Storage
There is no point in investing in a storage facility that
outgrows its demand. Therefore, getting the right storage facility is vital.
For example, there is no point in extending your garage or cluttering your
existing garage for a motorbike when there are simpler and more effective
storage facilities available such as www.asgardsss.co.uk
motorbike storage. It is all about maximising the space you have and finding
the right storage unit for what is required.
Make a Display
It may sound slightly strange, but making a display of your
clutter is also an effective way of hiding it. A fine example of this is in the
kitchen. Whilst your pots and pans clog up cupboards and crowd up work tops ââ¬â
simply putting up two shelves to display them will be an effective way of
storing them and potentially improve the image of your kitchen.
