A new luxury retail, residential and business center is being developed in New Cairo City and is named Cairo Festival City. This new development is set to have six districts and will be set on 730 acres of land. It is envisioned as the retail and leisure center for New Cairo City.
The US$9 billion development will have at is heart the Festival Centre, which will be an indoor and outdoor shopping and entertainment destination. Festival Centre is planned to have a 140,000 square meter enclosed shopping center with over 250 stores and nearly 100 restaurants and cafes. There will also be a 400-room luxury hotel integrated into the shopping center.
In addition to the shopping and entertainment areas, there will be business districts as well as residential areas. The residences will include the Oriana Luxury Villas with 480 Mediterranean style villas. The shopping center and the first phase of residences will be completed by the end of 2010, and the whole Festival City is set to be finished the following year.

The Al Futtaim Group has also developed Dubai Festival City along Dubai Creek, which has been a huge success.
Cairo Festival City is located in New Cairo City located on the eastern Ring Road. Festival City will be at the gateway to New Cairo City, 20 kilometers southeast of greater Cairo and just 15 minutes from Cairo International Airport.
