Asian Travel Awards

The prestigious Asian Travel Awards were awarded at the end of June in Shanghai, with over 100 hotels, airlines, cities and companies taking away top honors. These awards are voted on by thousands of people from travel related businesses around the globe. In attendance at this year’s red carpet ceremonies were a number of high-profile guests, including Miss World, Chinese-born Zi Lin Zhang, and TV star Varun Sharma from BBC World.
 
There were nearly 800 companies and locations nominated for these awards from Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Palau, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
 
Some of the nearly 120 winners were:
 
-Anantara Golden Triangle, which was selected as Thailand’s Best Spa Resort

-Hotel Sedona Manado was awarded Indonesia’s Leading Resort

-Cathay Pacific won Asia’s leading airline

-The Grand Hyatt Mumbai, the Leading Conference Hotel

– Shanghai captured five awards in the Chinese categories, including China’s Leading Destination

-The Hilton Kuala Lumpur won for Malaysia’s Leading Hotel

-Singapore’s Changi Airport was awarded Asia’s Best Airport

-Evason Ana Mandara Resort won for Vietnam’s top  Boutique Hotel
