Cyprus has experienced its fair share of property problems over recent years. However, as the island nation attempts to recover from the global economic downturn, developers are wooing rich investors to the island to buy some stunning, luxury property.
The island is targeting the high end market by creating some superb luxury Cypriot resorts, perfect for the discerning visitor.
The stunning Akamas Peninsular
One of the most popular locations for these luxury villas is the beautiful Akamas Peninsular. With building in the area closely controlled, it is a far cry from some of Cyprus’ busier resorts. Many of the villas offer a combination of private villa ownership and concierge services, allowing use of a restaurant, spa and gym as well as providing access to personal staff such as gardeners or chauffeurs.
The new Coral Bay Marina in the area has also helped attract the luxury yacht market.

Luxury…at a price
The cost of these superb Cyprus villas varies significantly. Whilst it is possible to snap up a smaller villa for under £ 1million, some of the luxury properties are selling for anything up to £3 million. Jonathan Salsbury, of Cybarco, a developer specialising in glitzy projects in Cyprus, says the properties are designed ‘to appeal to high-end purchasers who want to escape and unwind from a time-poor lifestyle’.
The Akamas peninsula has already become popular with the super-wealthy. British tycoon Philip Green has partied at the five-star Anassa hotel, up on the northeast at Latchi, where Homes Go Fast are marketing three bedroom luxury villas from just €659,945. Latchi is a much sought after location, boasting a marina and picturesque harbour housing many terrific fish and seafood restaurants.
