Despite a troubled housing market in the United States, the low price (< $200,000) condominiums in the southeast Valley is keeping sales strong. According to data compiled by Arizona State University, resale condos are going quicker than resold single-family homes, and a 40% increase in sales for resold housing was seen in February, up 21% from this time last year.
The advantages of a condominium over a single-family home in the United States are numerous. Buyers enjoy amenities such as the on-site fitness centers, resort-style pools and spas, covered parking or garages, not to mention the lack of expensive upkeep and yard work which comes with the purchase of a typical single-family home. These types of opportunities can make a world of difference in the sweltering heat of summer.
Condominiums are good alternative to the traditional single-family home for many first-time home owners. However, due to the small inventory of townhouses and condos, it is recommended that buyers move quickly on a sale; if you are a first-time buyer you may want to jump in rather than hesitate to move on a condo which you have set your heart on. Once a property is off the market it’s usually retained for a longer period of time than other types of property.
