One of Vermont’s traditional end of summer festivals is the Champlain Valley Fair. The 10-day long festival begins on August 23 and ends September 1 at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, just east of Burlington at the foot of the beautiful Green Mountains. This year’s fair will feature a number of performers in addition to the traditional rides, animals and other displays.
Starting off the events at the fair on Saturday, August 12 will be Garrison Keillor and his popular radio show A Prairie Home Companion. The following day, Daughty, led by frontman and band namesake Chris Daughtry, the makes its Vermont debut at the fair. Other performers include Danity Kane, Ted Nugent and Toby Keith. Pop group sensation, The Jonas Brothers, will finish their summer tour on Sunday, August 31.
This year is the 87th Champlain Valley Fair and is “Summer’s Last Blast” of fun. The 10-day annual Fair features blue-ribbon agricultural competitions, free entertainment, motor sports, midway rides, carnival, a daily circus, concerts, shopping and food. It has been named a Top 100 Event in America by the American Bus Association for the second year in a row.
